Snow at Huxin Pavilion

Zhang Dai's "all in white", made into a lake you can row into.

West Lake on a snowy night: a small boat heading for Huxin Pavilion

The best part of Zhang Dai's snow writing is in the measure words: the long embankment a trace, Huxin Pavilion a dot, my boat a speck, and the people in it two or three grains. I used AI to build a three-dimensional West Lake on a snowy night, and made each of those tiny "ones" a scene you can row into.

Click the water and the boat rows there by itself; or hold "Row" or the space bar to paddle slowly. After three days of heavy snow, all sounds of people and birds have left the lake — you head for the pavilion alone. Once there, why not step ashore and sit a while: the people in the pavilion are already warming wine by the stove.
